I'm supposed to be making Thanksgiving dinner.

I really should be making the Thanksgiving dinner that I promised my family, but I'm not. I thought I would share some photos of food I've made instead. None of these dishes are really suitable T-day meals, but I'm procrastinating.

This little guy is probably my favorite. It is a blue swimmer crab with a champagne sauce.
These little darlings are my second favorite. Those are peach halves that have been stuffed with a sweet rice pudding, crumbed with cake crumbs, then deep fried and served with a strawberry coulis.

This is a quail served over roasted veggies.

This is stuffed eggplant and OH. MY. GOODNESS. It was pretty good.

Okay, this one was probably my absolute favorite and has started my love affair with pesto. From scratch fettuccine with pesto. Lovely. Those white bits on top are Parmesan cheese. Yummy.
Now back to T-day.

Katriana almost didn't want to go to school today because she was salivating at the thought of Thanksgiving dinner. I find that rather shocking considering she has NEVER eaten Thanksgiving food. A bite or two maybe, but generally, no.

My children are picky eaters, only this year, she can't seem to contain herself over the thought of stuffing and such. I would say turkey, because it is, T-day, but my husband doesn't like turkey. So we're having a chicken.
Yes. That's right. Chicken. How wrong is that???

I know.

VERY. WRONG.

My father-in-law did scold my husband for the lack of turkey on T-day, which made it all better. My husband who is nearly 31 being scolded by his father was worth having chicken. We might have chicken every year if it always comes with a scolding for my husband.
I'm such a loving wife.

I'm going to cook now.
Maybe.

Mmm... peaches and rice pudding and strawberry sauce... it sounds absolutely lovely. I'd be interested in the eggplant too. I've never quite found an eggplant recipe that knocks my socks off, but I keep trying. Pesto, I agree, it's heaven, but what I really want to try is the handmade pasta.

On the plus side, using the smaller chicken instead of the turkey allowed for shorter cooking time, and the subsequent procrastination will have no negative effects on your T-day feast. Still, Turkey Day, without TURKEY!! Tsk. Tsk. Something is just not right there.

LOL!! I don't really think chicken and turkey taste that different... one is just an overgrown chook, isn't it?!
Wow, your other dishes look like they came from a 5 star hotel!!!! Fantastic! I think I'll have to drive down to Melbourne for lessons from you :)
